My name is Cosmo Jarvis.

I am 19 years old. I come from Totnes, Devon, but I was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey. I write songs and ever since I was born I’ve been around music. My Dad was always playing bands like The Grateful Dead, The Beatles and Tom Waits. My mum was a Bowie and Beatles fan and a ton of others.

My music changes from song to song. I like to write in a shit load of different styles because there is so much music to explore and I believe that music will never be fully understood. So why stop at one sound? My song subjects change as well. Some of them are about people (fictional or real), others are about my life, places, feelings, memories, general situations, dreams, growing up, changes, girls, films and loads of other stuff.

I make films too. Ever since Jackass made me and my friends break ourselves I have been making movies and writing music for them. I tried sixth form at school for a bit but gave up ‘cause it was shit and I couldn’t take learning from other people any more. I quit school and continued recording in my room and playing acoustic gigs where ever. The point is I was always exposed to a wide variety of diverse songs.

When I was much younger I started piano lessons. I liked playing but hated learning the teachers way. I quit piano for a while and started to realize that no one on TV was playing piano as they were all playing guitars. So my Dad got me a guitar. I didn’t play too much but messed around in between school and masturbation.

I started writing songs when I was 12. The song that did it for me was ‘Blackbird’ by The Beatles. To this day I think it is one of the greatest songs ever written. So I sat in my room for a while and recorded some songs using a drum machine and a hands free internet phone handset as a mic! I’ve never stopped writing.

I think I have a problem with authority. My favourite colour is black. My favourite lady is your mother.
